The rocky coastal landscape in the surroundings of Baška is fascinating. To enable lovers of mountain heights to enjoy walks and hikes in nature, the hiking trails of Baška have been recently maintained and signposted. There are a total of 19 trails with a length of over 80 kilometers. There are both easy and challenging hiking trails, so there is something for everyone.

Some of the hiking trails start near the house at the Abbey of St. Lucia. It is one of the most famous in Croatia and is known for the Baška Tablet and the Winged Altar of St. Lucia, whose replicas are exhibited here.

One of the most beautiful hikes leads to Vela Luka. At the end of the trail that leads to Vela Luka, you can treat yourself to lunch at the snack bar on the beautiful beach in the most attractive bay in the area – and then return by speedboat.

Baška from above 

There are many hiking spots on the island of Krk. Baška itself offers many hiking trails. We recommend a very nice tour: the path to Hlam, which offers a fantastic view over the Bay of Baška. You start your hiking tour at the ancient ruins and continue through a well-signposted road called the Shepherd’s Path. When you reach the summit, you will have a breathtaking view. Take a moment and enjoy the beautiful scenery while smelling the light breeze.

get on the bike 

Krk is one of the few islands that can be reached by bike from the coast – via the large and free bridge. The many bike paths make Krk one of the most popular destinations for cyclists in Croatia.

There are hundreds of kilometers of bike paths, ranging from easier and more accessible hiking trails, medium-length trekking paths, to mountain bike trails with challenging cliffs. Here is a small selection:

Punat - Krk - Malinska

Total length: about 30 km. The route is not demanding and is suitable for beginners and families with children. At the start, the tour offers a great view of Punat Bay and the small island of Košljun. We continue towards the town of Krk. It's worth a visit. Then continue north to Malinska - known for its sunset.

Malinska - Porat - Fumak - Sv. Anton - Oštrobradic - Malinska

The circular trail leads through the Malinska hinterland. With a total length of 22.4 km, this trail is suitable for trekking and mountain bike enthusiasts for a smaller challenge. On the way you will find the 15th century monastery of St. Maria Magdalena. The path also offers a beautiful view of the Rijeka Gulf.

Baška - Plato Mjeseca - Portafortuna - Baška

Now it gets challenging. The circular route is 26.6 km long with a challenging ascent. It starts from the center of Baška and goes to Plato Mjeseca, which offers an amazing view of Velebit and the islands of Prvic and St. Grugur. A tour for really experienced and good cyclists.

Milohnici - Glavotok - Tri hrasta - Poljica - Pinezici - Milohnici

Mountain bike circular route with a length of 20 km. Lots of cliffs, downhill and different terrain configurations. The trail exploring the west of the island offers a view of Cres and the Rijeka Gulf. For a break, you can briefly visit the 12th-century Church of St. Christian.

Vrbnik - Risika - Dobrinj - Kras - Kornic - Vrbnik

33 km long and is a moderately difficult trail. Most of the island of Krk extends to the central part of the island, and its final descent runs through the rich vineyards that cross the town of Vrbnik. With its small streets and good wine, it is one of the most beautiful on the island.

For those who love the sea, Krk offers ideal conditions for underwater activities, as well as for water skiing, windsurfing, rides on banana boats, and more.

Diving is definitely one of the most attractive water sports. The exceptionally clean and rich sea offers unforgettable moments for those who love the underwater world.
